How to fix:

- If someone's doing this; change a district
- The only reason people still present hunt is because there's no other way to obtain winter gifts; give the players other ways
e.g. collector; win in DVG; random drop
- fix the exploit and make grentches auto-teleport into the presents if they have been stuck for more than 10 seconds straight
- get your grentches some better pathing
- make the grentches transparant instead of solid objects
- make the candy canes in kamadan and the xunlai agents around LA transparant

Still; if someone's doing this, it does mean free fireworks (the same as in the exploding winter gifts), which was the thing to trigger me into doing it

Cheers,

Hey Gaile

On the subject of presents, remember last year in Kamaden, presents spawned on the ledges next to the 9 rings (on both sides) and noone could reach them.

Will this be updated this time around?

There is a collector. Check Great Temple of Balthazar lately?

"Switch districts" a not a good answer. No one should have to district hop in hopes of finding one where there isn't some loser screwing up the fun others are trying to have. Since there's only 10 or so LA American districts, it only takes 10 or so jerks to screw it up for everyone playing on American servers - which means changing regions, meaning crowding up those regions and possibly finding the same crap going on!

I hope the little pricks get their accounts suspended over New Years, they don't deserve the goodies from the main event!

Indeed, and also if you keep doing the quest "The Strength of Snow" (repeatable) you'll end up with a ton of them. On average that quest drops between 15 - 20 cc shards, plus 5 for cashing it in, then hand them in to the Wintersday Gift Giver at 5 shards a pop. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Personally I'd like to see these tools lose their hat opportunity, serves em right.

One neat solution: Put timer on the Present it self, the present will explode after 5mins (maybe more or less) then respawn again.

Wiki: This Winter Gift, in the Wintersday 2006 and Wintersday 2007 events, is obtained only by collecting a present from the ground and giving it to a Young Child, in which they will give you one back to open to get a random item. This is not to be confused with a Wintersday Gift, which was dropped at the end of the three-hourly events during the Wintersday Finale.

So... what's the difference?

I think that'd be best, actually. That's more than enough time to avoid Grentches and get the gifts to Scrappy if you're actually playing the game, but not enough time for people to go "Hey, isn't the present going to spawn?"

Anyone hiding with presents can have the minute or so of fun they get out of griefing without spoiling the entire district indefinitely just by going AFK.

I still say it's not as big an issue as the mapping exploit, but obviously people are angry enough about this to keep the thread alive, so there you go.

Dragon Festival, endgame where people run around avoiding grasps. If you hold an orb for a certain amount of time, it disappears. They should just do the same with the presents.

Avalon, so why make a big deal out of it if there's no difference?
